Kevin O'Brien, SJ Named President of Santa Clara University

Santa Clara University announced that Kevin O’Brien, SJ as the new president of the university. Following current president Michael Eng, SJ, O’Brien will be the 29th university president. Previously, Fr. O’Brien has served as the dean of the Jesuit School of Theology of Santa Clara University. Additionally, he worked for Georgetown University as the vice president for mission and ministry.

In the university press release, Santa Clara notes that Fr. O’Brien will oversee the recently announced $1 billion capital campaign, Innovating with a Mission: The Campaign for Santa Clara University. This campaign will add needed scholarships, increased endowed professorships and increase the diversity of the campus, among other priorities.
